Our satellite-tracked vehicles currently travel from our base in Winsford to the far flung corners of the UK, carrying all manner of goods from carpets to salad cream! Hazardous goods are a speciality.

In addition to this very personal service, in March 09 we become fully fledged members of the Pallet-Track network, which will enable us to offer very competitive rates and quick delivery to all places.

Company Profile

Our origins go back to 1925 at North Rode, near Congleton when Samuel Cooper started his
business collecting milk and delivering coal. A local artist portrays the scene below.

We've moved on somewhat since those early days, but we are sure that Samuel Cooper
would have been proud at what we've achieved to date!

Key developments in our history include:

In 1981 a move to larger premises in Bollington.
In 1988 expansion into articulated vehicles.
In 1997 a move to our current premises in Winsford.

Despite this growth, we still pride ourselves on being a family business, Richard Howarth our MD being a fourth generation 'Cooper'!.

Our seven acre site boasts the following facilities:

Over 100,000 sq ft storage with an undercover transhipping area.
State of art four bay vehicle workshop.
60 tonne weighbridge.
Vehicle body shop.
Extensive ofiice facilities for ourselves and numerous small businesses.

We're human beings!

Despite the image some of the haulage industry has, which in most cases is quite unjustified,
and despite our success, there is a very human side to S. Cooper & Sons Ltd. Indeed, it's
probably why we are so good at what we do!

Despite having a 100+ staff, we are on a first name basis with all.

We're one of the few companies who employ apprentices in our workshops and when it comes
to employing drivers, we are always prepared to give inexperience an opportunity - how else
do people become 'experienced'?

Additionally, we employ young people under the Young Driver Training Scheme, bringing much
needed new blood into our industry.

Many of our Articulated Vehicle drivers started their career with us on a rigid vehicle and we
have trained them as they have grown with us.

A percentage of our profits go to the The Stroke Association, their logo being prominently
displayed on the rear doors of all our vehicles.

We even sponsor the local roundabout on the Wharton By-Pass!
